Message: The place looks cool, but it is dirty and not well maintained, plus I was treated like an ideot by the woman with a serious attitude problem who was working the reception desk. The sink and bathtub don't drain properly, there are few resources available in the kitchen, such as cups and plates etc. I ordered Chinese food and got yelled at by the lady who told me to "get it together" and interrupted every attempt at explaining myself. The delivery guy screwed up; he was supposed to call. I haven't been treated like an ideot like that since I was a teenager. I do not recommend coming to this place. |

Message: I've only been gone a day, but i miss the house already. I celebrated my 21st birthday with ya'll this weekend. I had my first legal beer at midnight, at the kitchen table, while the most amazing group of strangers sang "happy birthday" and toasted to me. I left the house with some amazing memories and a new group of friends. By far the best time of my life. |

Message: It's great to see that India House is still alive and kicking!!!
I was there in 2004 on my coast to coast trip from NYC to San Francisco, and was among the best hostels I encountered during my travel.
If I ever come back in NO, save a bed for me, will ya?

Message: Stayed at the India House while on a two month Road Trip. As an Artist, I loved the art on the walls and the colors every where. As a traveler, I enjoyed the comfortable bed, convenient location and price. As a sight-seer, it was great having the Canal Street Trolley less than a block away. As a hungry tourist, I enjoyed the home cooking of Barbara's Pancake House within walking distance. Later learned this is where the locals go to eat, so its gotta be good. My experience at the India House was an outstanding one and will stop by the next time I go by New Orleans. Stay & Enjoy! |

Message: India house is the first hostel I ever stayed at, back in 96 when I was 19, traveling across country from NC to CA with 4 other friends.Great memories! Good to see you're still alive and (based on the other comments) still a great place to stay. You might see us for New Years this year!Hopefully the coke-machine-turned-into-beer-machine still exists! I credit India House with my first realization that traveling for yougins can be done on the cheap. I've stayed in many a hostel since 96... photos on http://neb.smugmug.com if you're interested.Keep the good times rolling..Ben |

Message: I stayed initially for 3 nights but enjoyed it so much after the first, extended to 4. Wonderful atmosphere and i got myself involved in a great jamming session with 5 guitarists on the first night. You wanna party, it's great. You wanna relax, it's great. It was recommended to me from a guy in Memphis and I pass that on. Wanna good breakfast? try Ruby Slipper, about 15 a minute walk but well worth it. |

Message: We stopped in and stayed at India House this past summer on our way to Florida and we can’t tell enough people about it! We had so much fun, amazing atmosphere, staff, and guests. We loved everything about it and we can’t wait to go back. This will be the ONLY place we stay at in N'awlins. So close to all the excitement and so reasonably priced. Keep up the great work guys, cant wait to come back. |
